The Village of Allegany Police Department represents an organization whose existence is justified on the basis of community service. There are many responsibilities associated with our mission. They include enforcement of local, county, state and federal law; maintaining the peace and order of the community; protecting property and personal safety; educating the public; and assisting citizens in various situations.
Police Officers must seek and preserve public confidence by demonstrating impartial service to law, and offering service and trust to all members of the public. We at all times will enforce all laws for which we are responsible in a fair and impartial manner; work in close cooperation with other law enforcement agencies in order to maintain the appropriate level of enforcement; and with community groups and organizations to promote understanding of and competence in our efforts in law enforcement. It is essential all members remember that in their execution of their duties they act not for themselves but for the good of the public. The department serves the people of our community by performing the law enforcement function in a professional manner and it is to these people that the department is ultimately responsible. The Village of Allegany Police Department utilizes saturated Police patrols to participate with the Buckle Up New York, Click It... Or Ticket, a statewide, zero-tolerance enforcement effort coordinated by the State Police, local agencies, sheriff's offices and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee to increase safety restraint use in New York State. Increasing seat belt and child safety seat use is the most effective way to reduce crash-related injuries and fatalities. |
