Village of Allegany residents in need of Police assistance should call (716) 373-0873. A contract exists between the Village and Town of Allegany which provides town residents with assistance from the Allegany Police Department for emergency type calls only. If an officer is on duty the department will respond to emergency type situations to get the incident under control. The incident will then be turned over to the New State Police or the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department on their arrival. For non-emergency police assistance, residents in the town can contact the New York State Police at (716) 373-2550 or the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department at 1-800-443-3403. When a 911 request for Police occurs the Cattaraugus County 911 Dispatch Center in Little Valley, New York contacts area police via a police radio and the closest unit will respond.
Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Response
Residents in need of emergency response from the Fire Department or in need of an Ambulance should call 911. All 911 calls are received at the Cattaraugus County 911 Dispatch Center in Little Valley, New York. When a 911 call requesting Fire, Rescue or Ambulance assistance is received at the Dispatch Center, the Allegany Fire Department and/or the Knapp Creek Fire Department is notified via a monitor alert system to respond to such incidents.
