SPRING AND FALL YARD WASTE PICK UP
Department of Public Works Employees pick up yard waste left out to the curb approximately two months in the Spring and approximately two months in the Fall.
- Begins in the month of April.
- Leaves, brush, weeds etc. are picked up at various times during the week. Residents are asked to place items on the street side of the curb. No Grass Clippings!! (Grass Clippings clog up street storm sewers and should be taken to the Cattaraugus County Transfer Station located on West Union Street)
NOTE: The final day for spring yard waste pick-up will be May 14, 2012. Residents are reminded to take summer yard waste to the Transfer Station located on Union Street until the fall yard waste pick-up resumes.
- Residents are asked not to place yard waste out to the roadway during the summer months as routine trips through the village are not made and public works employees use this time to keep roadways swept, resurface roadways and conduct other necessary work to maintain village facilities and properties.
TO ALL RESIDENTS: The DPW uses a leaf vacuum/mulcher THEREFORE all residents are asked to keep leaves separate from other yard waste so the leaf/mulcher can pick up the leaves put out to roadway. ANY PILES OF LEAVES MIXED WITH TREE BRANCHES AND OTHER DEBRIS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP.
- Begins towards the end of the month of September when leaves start falling and continues until the leaves on trees have all fallen (last day of pick-up will be noted below). Residents are asked to rake leaves out to the side of the roadway, on the street side of the curb. Do not place leaves in plastic bags. NOTE: Keep leaves separate from other yard waste as we are using a leaf vacuum for picking up leaves. Brush, weeds and other yard type waste will also be picked up at various times during the week. Residents are asked to place items on the street side of the curb. No Grass Clippings!! (Grass Clippings clog up street storm sewers and should be taken to the Cattaraugus County Transfer Station located on West Union Street).
NOTE: Fall yard waste pick-up begins on TBA. Yard waste such as branches, limbs, shrubs and leaves may be left near the side of the road for pick-up. Remember, do not bag leaves that are to be picked up!
The final day for fall yard waste pick-up will be TBA. Residents are reminded to take seasonal yard waste and grass clippings to the Transfer Station located on Union Street until the spring yard waste pick-up resumes.
