Allegany Heritage Days

Allegany Heritage Days coincides with Allegany Alumni Weekend and is celebrated on the first weekend in August. The Chairperson of this event is Francie Potter. Many events occur during this weekend.

Thursday (August 4th)

• Allegany Get-together

• Free Hot Dogs at Allegany Firemen's Park on North First Street from 6PM thru 8PM - free hot dogs and chips will be given out by the Village and Town of Allegany - Open to all Allegany residents and Alumni

Alumni Early Birds - Come talk about the "Old Times"

Friday (August 5th)

• Book Sale - at the Allegany Public Library located at the corner of Third and Main Street from 10 AM thru 5 PM.

• Alumni coming in town meet at various locations

Saturday (August 6th)

• Events held in front of the Heritage Center located at 25 North Second Street Allegany, NY
  • Oil and Gas Industry in Allegany from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
  • Country Cupboard Sales from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
  • Craft Sales from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
  • Antique Clothing Display from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Pictures and Memories (Articles etc...) of Dresses of the past will be on display.NOTE: Anyone who has pictures and/or stories or articles of the various clothing of the past can take them to the Heritage Center
  • Allegany Central School Class Photos on Display from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
  • Food Sales (to benefit the Creekside Church Youth Group) 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
  • Ice Cream Social from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 PM
  • Music by Allegany Alumni & Friends Band Performs on North Second Street at the Heritage Center from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM
  • The Balloon Man (sponsored by the Five Star Bank) from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
  • Horse Drawn Wagon Rides - from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
  • Music by MissBehavior 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM (sponsored by Allegany Community Federal Credit Union)
  • Fresh Popped Pop Corn (sponsored by St. John's Lutheran Church)
  • Other activities occurring throughout the day at the Heritage Center:
    • Childrens Activities
    • Face Painting

• Book Sale - at the Allegany Public Library located at the corner of Third and Main Street from 10 AM thru 3 PM.

• Allegany Central School Alumni Dinner Dance at the Robert H. Livingston Community Center. Cocktails will be served starting at 5:30 PM with dinner beginning at 6:30 PM. Reservation forms have been sent to all alumni. Deadline for dinner reservations is Friday July 29, 2011. For more information contact Carolyn Hemphil at 716-372-0502.
