Congratulations to the 2011 Scholarship Winners

Todd Hulse II / Megan Grace / Chad Monkhouse

Todd Hulse II won last year's Clem & Ida Martiny Scholarship, a one-time payment scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Todd is the son of Carla and Todd Hulse. Todd is planning to attend SUNY Fredonia and his major course of study is Biology Education.

Megan Grace won last year's Miss Dorothy Karl Scholarship, a one-time payment scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Megan is the daughter of Fred Grace Jr. (Class of 1969 and retired teacher ACS/ALCS) and Judy Grace (Current Teacher ACLS /ACS) and the granddaughter of Fred Grace Sr. (former ACS Principal, V Principal, Football Coach and ACS / ALCS Board Member). Megan is planning to attend SUNY Brockport and her major course of study is Elementary Education.

Chad Monkhouse won last year's ACS Alumni Scholarship, an annual awarded scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year. Chad is the son of Edith and Carl Monkhouse Jr. Chad is planning to attend Rochester Institute Technology and his major course of study is Chemical Engineering-Honors Program.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE TO SENIORS AT ALLEGANY LIMESTONE CENTRAL SCHOOL

ACS ALUMNI CLEM & IDA MARTINY SCHOLARSHIP This $1,000 one year scholarship was established in 2005 to be awarded to a graduate who is planning to attend an accredited college or university, pursuing a course of study in the field of education. The selection is based on academic excellence, extra-curricular activities, and a personal essay. The scholarship was made possible by a bequest of Clem Martiny, in honor of his wife, Ida Mohr Martiny, who was a teacher in the Allegany Central School system for 40 years.

ACS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship was established in 1966 to be given to an Allegany-Limestone senior who plans to attend an accredited college or university. The recipient is selected based on financial need, academic excellence, extra-curricular activities, and a personal essay. The award is $1,000 per year, and is renewable for up to three more years. Only one family member can receive the scholarship.

THE DOROTHY T. KARL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This $1,000 one year scholarship was established in 2008 by members of the ACS Class of 1961 and the family of Dorothy T. Karl. She was a math teacher in the Allegany Central School district for 37 years. It will be awarded to a senior who will be attending an accredited college or university, pursuing a course of study in the field of education. The recipient will be a good student, one who works hard at both academic and personal pursuits, but doesn't necessarily have to be at the top of his or her class academically. Moreover, this candidate should demonstrate an enduring commitment to qualities associated with exemplary character.

NOTE: Some of the above award amounts may vary. Amounts may be adjusted up or down, depending on the number of successful candidates for the award, the economy, or other financial considerations. Members of the Alumni Board will independently score each application, and then a composite score of the members will determine the successful candidates.
